DemandSphere: branded AI Overview presence jumps (~69% on Sep 26)
Publisher
Vendor tracker; Google did not announce a branded-AIO change.
What happened
DemandSphere daily series (covered by SEL 2026-10-01): AI Overviews on tracked branded queries rose to 69.21% on Sep 26 (from mid-20s/30s earlier in September), then higher on Sep 27. Counts presence whether or not the brand is cited. Google issued no product note for the step-change.
Why it matters
Brand SERPs are no longer a safe “AIO-free” zone. Monitor branded queries in GSC + generative AI impressions; narrative may be set by Wikipedia/YouTube/etc. citations.

Official
What happened
Dashboard still lists the September spam update in progress. Later SEJ/SEOmonitor notes that from ~Sep 26 some rank trackers showed swings people did not see in live search—attributed to incomplete automated SERP returns.
Why it matters
During spam rollouts, prefer Search Console sustained shifts over single-day tracker drama.
