What happened

SEL/SER retrospectives list September 30 among impact dates for the still-rolling September spam update (alongside Sep 25–27 and later Oct 4–6). Dashboard still shows the update in progress.

Why it matters

Mark the date in GSC annotations; confirm sustained impression/click shifts before calling a site “hit.”

OpenAI Dots: always-on agents with read-only proactive research

Publisher

What happened

SEJ (2026-09-30): OpenAI’s Dots roll to Pro (ex-EEA/CH/UK) and Business Premium; Enterprise/Edu/Healthcare beta. Between prompts, a dot may run proactive research—read permitted connected sources and save notes, but cannot send messages, change plugin content, or control a browser/computer in that mode. Scheduled checks can retain monitoring jobs across sessions. Help pages (as of Sep 30) do not mention SEO analytics platforms among examples.

Why it matters

GEO / ops: standing monitors can watch sources overnight, but discovery ≠ citation in ChatGPT Search. Plugin allowlists decide what a dot can read; this is not a Google ranking update.
